WHAT IS YOUR AVERAGE RUNNING PACE AND GOAL?
It depends on the run. My long endurance runs are around 5:50 to 6:20 per kilometer, which keeps me in Zone 2. It varies depending on travel, time zones, and sleep.
I recently had a full medical and cardiology check to make sure everything is fine after years of DJ life. The results were great. The doctor told me to focus more on heart rate than pace during long runs, around 120 bpm, to get the most out of my training.
For intervals, I go faster, around 4:50 per kilometer or even quicker for sprints. My goal for the half-marathon is to keep a steady 5:20 pace throughout.
WHAT DO YOU TAKE WITH YOU ON A RUN?
In Hamburg’s weather, just my house keys, AirPods if I want music, and my iPhone for running
content. If I’m somewhere warm or tropical, I’ll bring a bottle of water. That’s it.
